Jewelry we designed in conjunction with the program, "Discarded to Divine" will be on exhibit at the de Young Museum in San Francisco tonight. Clothing, accessories and jewelry designers were asked to contribute and create one of a kind items made from materials found in the discarded bins at the St. Vincent de Paul Society Help Desk. The stipulation was that all designs had to be inspired by works of art shown at the de Young Museum. We converted cufflinks, tie tacks into earrings inspired by Gauguin's “Tahitian Women on the Beach” and Oceanic tribal art. We even transformed a pair of earrings from the lost and found, into a necklace that was inspired by Van Gogh’s “Starry Night Over The Rhone.”Here is the finished necklace along with two other earrings we made for the benefit.
